Tornados terrify me. Terrify.
I am so happy we had our storm shelter installed this week. Today, two people dropped by and asked where we got it. The National Weather Service seems to think Oklahoma will need it this weekend.
I hope not. But at least we have one.
Max was happy to watch the backhoe.
I'm happy to have a scaredy hole to hide.
I need a scaredy hole. *cries*
ReplyDeleteOklahoma weather service totally rained on my plan to go to the lake this weekend. Then again, hanging out during a tornado watch in a trailer park does not sound relaxing. Glad to know where there is a safe place near by!
DeleteSonia, I'm so glad you are safe! Your comment was made before the tornado hit. Premonition?
DeleteLisa, you probably made a wise choice for your weekend--especially since not too long ago, a tornado was seen across the lake from your trailer!
DeleteI'm sure Max could talk shop with the backhoe driver.
ReplyDeleteYou're right! He probably could. When I tried to enthuse to him in a Mommy voice, he made it clear he was too big to be bothered with my trivial excitement. I barely received a glance! His interests were so grown up as he studied the "mens."
DeleteMatt's parents bought us a tornado shelter about a year and a half ago. It has given me immeasurable peace of mind!
ReplyDeleteOh--and Jesse totally dug the backhoe (pun not intended, actually, but it should have been). Then one of the workers passed out from the heat, so at one point, we had in front of our house: backhoe, cement mixer, fire truck, ambulance, police car. It was toddler boy heaven.
He must have been thrilled! Why do our little ones love the excitement that makes the mommies a bundle of nerves?
DeleteNicci just said the term – ‘peace of mind’. It’s just what we need in a very troubled time. If I remember it right, there’s been a tornado outbreak almost the same time as this post, right? Glad you had your storm shelter installed in advance. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, there was an outbreak at that time. Then again, it was Oklahoma in the spring...so it was bound to happen.
DeleteAnd, I agree. I'll take "peace of mind" at any opportunity.
I'm glad you've got one near your home. I hope you don't have to use it, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Stock up on emergency supplies there and keep them periodically updated. And if you never use your shelter, you can always use it as as another storage room for important files or family heirlooms.
