Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from my little turkeys!

Make note: Next time a woman with a toddler and a two-month-old says, "Let's go out for Thanksgiving--it will be easier," hand her a cookbook and some chicken broth. She doesn't know what she's thinking.

But this is how memories are made. Many times today, I thought of this great blog entry on Ashley Riherd's blog, gritted my teeth, and counted my blessings.

I insisted on pictures. It was a chore.

Don't they look happy?

4 generations of female turkeys

But we got through it.

And I have pics to commemorate Alexandra's first Thanksgiving.

And those little turkeys...well, they top my list of things for which I am thankful.
My manna from heaven.

  1. Brandi: Your family is beautiful!! It's so important to strengthen those "ties that bind," in life. Even though our family is not as close now as it once was, I have wonderful memories. Every moment is like a silk cocooon that makes our life so rich both now and in the future when they have unfolded to become butterflies of memory. And they are magical, they can unfold again and again.

  3. Thank you both.

Annita, it's unusual that you mention the butterfly metaphor. I've thought of it a lot lately.

Thanks for the shoutout, Jenna! I like your new blog.

  4. Thank you so much for your sweet words. After the trip to Chicago and then reading the book 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp -- I feel as if my entire mentality has shifted, and I'm seeing life through new eyes. Of course, I have to remind myself every day (sometimes every 5 minutes...) that all things in life (with the right perspective) are blessings.

By the way, you certainly have cute manna... :)

  5. I know I'm late on the post here, but I am cracking up at Max climbing over the arm of the chair. I mean, do three-year-olds find it physically impossible to get on the furniture any other way than over the arm? And do they know any way off other than Superman flying leaps?
