Friday Favorite: Heaven Sent Food and Fiber Goat Soap

On Tuesday, I told you I love Heaven Sent Food and Fiber, so I'm giving away a Valentine so you can get to know their amazing products, too.

Shopping is difficult enough without some research telling me everything contains toxins. Deodorant, soap, etc.  This stuff is supposed to be clean, right?  If you like natural and non-toxic products, I have a soap for you.  Plus, it smells good.

As some of you know, my hubby is very health conscious.  Heaven Sent Food and Fiber's goats' milk soap is the only kind he uses.  (I even went to a monastery and bought some of the monks' homemade product, but he would have nothing to do with it!)

Something you should know about this soap is that it's different from the kind you buy at a superstore. Since it doesn't have a lot of ingredients in it, don't expect suds.  It doesn't mean it's not working.  It just doesn't create all the bubbles...which brings up the question, what chemical causes those suds? Eek. Another thing to know about this soap is that it lasts FOREVER.

Would you like to win your own soap? It's easy!

First, select which soap you'd like to win.

Oatmeal and Honey
Lavendar Rosemary
Rosemary Mint
Tea Tree Mint and Oatmeal

Second, since Coleen's Thorton's farm is self-supporting, let me know what back-to-basics, Little House on the Prairie-type skill you would like to acquire.

Third, post your answers in the comment section below with your contact info, and check back on Valentine's Day to see if you won!

Lastly, if you're interested in supporting small farms, here's a note from Coleen:

Since you are signing up through the computer would you vote for our Dream Big Contest Idea? We are competing to win a $5,000 grant to purchase equipment for making socks from our yarns. This is one “warm step” closer to our dream of bringing a small fiber mill to Tahlequah to create agriculture-related  jobs and more options for farmers and ranchers. Go here to vote for our Dream! Share it on your page to have friends and relatives vote too.

Check back on Valentine's Day to see who wins!

  1. I'd love to try the tea tree mint and oatmeal.
I don't know if this counts as back to basics, but I'd love to learn how to use a sewing machine. I can hand-sew quick little fixes, but some things really need a machine:)

    1. Nice choice.It smells good.

I would like to learn how to use a sewing machine properly, Lisa. All these t-shirts aren't going to miracle themselves into a quilt.

  2. Each fragrance sounds lovely, but I adore tea tree and mint. Yum! If I had to pick a back to basics skill I would love to be able to plant a large vegetable garden :) ♡ Joy Knight

    1. The tea tree and mint is off to a good start as a favorite.:)

I could totally help you plant the garden...keeping it alive is way out of my league.

    2. Ooh, Joy Knight, when you learn that skill, can you teach me, signed the lady that kills all her plants :)

  3. They all sound wonderful, but if forced to select only one I'd go tea tree mint and oatmeal - it sounds man friendly, too! For a skill? I'd love to be able to ride a horse fearlessly!

What a great mission Coleen has - I'm on my way to vote!

  4. Apparently voting doesn't begin until Feb 16. I wouldn't be offended by a reminder - maybe tag me in a FB post so I can share it?

  5. I can't explain the dichotomy--I am completely freaked out by bar soap, yet completely enamored with handmade soaps. Maybe I love them because I hog them for myself and don't share them, hence, they don't touch other people's nakedness and hair. *gag*

I think the oatmeal and honey sounds lovely. I already like to wash my face with honey. You should try it. It will make you feel like a Kardashian, only earthier and more wholesome.

I have no back-to-basics skills, but I'm trying to develop some. I failed at growing vegetables. I can cook things from scratch that I once though only came in a can. I can sew a pair of little boy's pajama pants out of fabric I find in the remnant bin. I made two whole people from scratch. That was kind of a big deal.

I wish I hadn't failed on the vegetable garden. That would be the skill I want.

Remind me when voting opens. I love small business and local/sustainable agriculture. :)

    1. You've accomplished a lot of back to basics skills, Nicci. Congratulations. I'll have to try washing my face with honey. It sounds pretty icky and sort of like a tween-age version of going on a snipe hunt, but I'll try it!

  6. I can smell the tea tree mint and oatmeal. Mmmmmmmmm. Yes, please.

Not in any way associated with tattoos, I would love to learn the fading art of tatting.

    1. We have a raffle at one of our family reunions to raise funds for the building. Each year, a person donates a lovely piece of tatting. I won one a few years ago. Lovely!

  7. I would love to try the lavender one. I have always wanted to learn to make home made butter

    1. Have you made the jar kind where you shake it up? We've done that. Yummy.

  8. I'm sure I'm too late for the drawing, but have to say that I love handmade soaps--I've recently become reacquainted with them after years of shower gel. The rosemary mint sounds divine--adore the smell!
I'm also all about investing in homey arts and have been doing my fair share (perhaps more than my fair share?) of baking, cooking, crochet, knitting, et al... I am also hoping to become a gardener and chicken keeper and perhaps to make soap of my own one day?

    1. I didn't exactly announce a date to end the sign up, so you're good!

I love how you're transforming into a Laura Ingalls. I just read in a magazine how you can take your family and "vacation" at these villages that are set back in time. You'd totally make it. I, on the other hand, might be hiding some Oreos in my mounds of skirts.
